MOUNTAIN PLAYHOUSE BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPOINTS BEENER TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
JENNERSTOWN – The Mountain Playhouse, a professional summer stock theater and nonprofit organization, announces the addition of Michele R. Miller Beener to its Board of Directors.
“We are pleased to welcome Michele, who is very accomplished in the nonprofit arena but also has strong local roots and dedication to Somerset County,” Mountain Playhouse Board Chair Rev. Joseph R. Beer said. “Michele is an ideal addition to our organization and will be an asset to the board and the Playhouse organization.”
Beener is the President of Aspire Grant and Development, LLC, a full service, state, federal and private grant research, application and management agency. Aspire’s client portfolio spans three states and specializes in transportation, health, professional and youth sports, tourism and economic development. The firm has prepared grant proposals leading to $25 million in awards.
Michele earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Waynesburg University and a Master of Science in Business Ethics from Duquesne University. Since 1999, Beener has served Allegany College of Maryland’s Department of Business and Economics as an adjunct lecturer, teaching various undergraduate business courses. She is a registered Federal grant reviewer for the United States Health Resources and Services Administration.
Over the past ten years, Michele has served various nonprofit boards, including Past President of the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce, Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, Children’s Aid Home of Somerset County, Somerset County Campus Foundation for Allegany College of Maryland, Messiah Lutheran Church and the Rotary Club of Somerset.
In 2007, Beener was honored by the YWCA of Greater Johnstown’s Tribute to Women Award Program as Educator of the Year. She was humbled to receive the Salute to Women Award by the Penns Woods Council, Boy Scouts of America, in 2014.
Michele says she loves living in the Laurel Highlands, and operates two additional businesses with her father, Chippewa Farms and Miller Antique and Restoration, LLC. Together they restore antique and steam powered farm equipment, household antiques and sell USDA processed beef for retail.
Beener will join current board members: Rev. Dr. Joseph Beer, W. Jeffrey Carey, Judy Crookston, Barbara Frankel, Marcene Glover, Joseph Domencic and Laura Argenbright.
