Dear Mountain Playhouse Friends,
This has been a challenging time for all of us during this health crisis. Unfortunately, it has become clear to the staff and board of directors that due to the ongoing concerns regarding Covid, the Mountain Playhouse cannot produce our 2020 season as planned. This has not been an easy decision. All possibilities and outcomes have been weighed, but we strongly believe that the health and safety of our company members, volunteers, and you – our patrons – is the first priority, followed by ensuring the success of our beloved 81-year-old theater organization.
The shows planned for 2020 (“Honky Tonk Angels,” “Perfect Wedding,” “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story,” “Popcorn Falls,” “RIPCORD” and “Sanders Family Christmas”) will be presented in 2021 in the same order. We are working to transfer the licenses and secure new dates. We will share those with you as soon as possible.
During this intermission – we will be posting and emailing updates and messages from company members, as well as some creative projects that will tide you over until next June.
If you have not joined the email list – this is the perfect time to consider signing up and receive information as it develops. The email signup is at the bottom of the homepage. http://www.mountainplayhouse.org/
All 2020 tickets will be “rolled over” to the same 2021 shows. You will receive a reminder as the season approaches. If you do not wish your tickets to roll over, you may request a gift pass for the full value of your purchase which can be applied towards any 2021 show. The pass will expire after the final performance next year.
**In lieu of tickets or a 2021 pass, please consider converting your purchased tickets into a tax-deductible donation to The Red Door Fund. This references the beautiful front doors that welcome you into our glorious 215-year-old converted gristmill.
If you are not a ticket purchaser, please consider a donation to The Red Door Fund by using this link: https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?contribution=mntpl
This fund will help us to weather this unforeseen storm and plan the 2021 season for you. Making this gift today will ensure our season tomorrow.
Ticketholders – to request a pass or to convert to a donation, please call the box office at 814.629.9220 x100 or send an email to boxoffice@mountainplayhouse.org. Staff members are working from home and we will retrieve those messages and emails as quickly as possible. Please be patient as we give each and every person the care and undivided attention that they deserve.
Thank you for your patronage and gifts of support. They are needed now more than ever to see the theater company thru its second interruption of performances – the first was during WWII.
Stay safe and healthy.
Before you know it, we’ll be seeing you in Jennerstown.
